A First-Timer’s Guide to Palawan

Palawan is often called the last frontier of the Philippines. Its limestone cliffs, lagoons and clear water make it a favorite for first-time visitors.

El Nido is best for island-hopping tours and sunset dinners. Coron is known for wreck diving, Kayangan Lake and hot springs. If you have six days or more, visit both.

The dry season from November to May offers calm seas and sunny skies. Book island tours in advance during peak months like December and Holy Week.

Respect the environment: bring reef-safe sunscreen, avoid single-use plastics and follow your guide’s instructions around coral.
